Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain Sculpture Reproductions
1710-1795. Allegrain was a relatively unknown sculptor whose brother-in-law, Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, was the most famous sculpture under Louis XV. Christophe worked closely with his brother in law and his only solo commissions were the Butter-churner, based on a drawing by Francois Boucher and commissioned in 1753 by Madame de Pompadour and Venus at Bath, commissioned in 1756.
