This sculpture of Zeus (Greek), or Jupiter (Roman), was discovered in the 18th century in the town of Otricoli in Umbria, Italy. It is a Roman copy of a Greek original dating from possibly the 4th century B.C.E. The large curls of the hair and beard add energy to the piece.
