Restoration of Michaelangelo Moses

Featured Restoration: Moses by Michelangelo

Massachusetts State Court House, Worcester

Spring 2010

The Moses sculpture arrived with severe structural damage

Metal pipes were added to restore structural integrity of the sculpture.

The most damaged plaster was replaced with clay to restore it to its original form.

A rubber mold with a plaster shell was made of the new form

Stainless steel metal bars were added internally for additional support.

The new form was cast and integrated back into the original sculpture.

Moses was set on his back to add even more support inside.

Color/patina was added to the new pieces and touched up on the existing sculpture.
