National Library of France Sculpture Reproductions
One of the oldest libraries in the world and most important library in France, the National Library of France makes its home in Paris. The library was moved to Paris between 1567 and 1593 and in 1622 the first real catalog of it holdings was compiled. In 1692 the library opened to the public and made another move this time to the Mazarin Palace in 1721. It was given its current name in 1795. In 1995 a new library was completed along the Seine River and the library was moved there to accommodate its growing collections.
