Acropolis Museum Sculpture Reproductions

Built to house the remains of the ancient Acropolis site, the original museum was first opened in 1876. In the 1970s it was decided that the museum was too small to accommodate the number of visitors. After some failed design competitions in 2000 the Organization of the New Acropolis Museum announced a new tender and awarded the design to Bernard Tschumi with Michael Photiadis and their associates. The new museum was completed in 2007 and opened to the public in 2009.
