1561-1566 Also known as the Monument of the Heart of Henry II. The monument was commissioned in 1561 by Queen Catherine de Medicis for her late husband King Henry II. Germain Pilon carved the Three Graces and Italian sculptor Domenico del Barbiere created the triangular pedestal and provided the model for the bronze urn. The bronze urn was unfortunately melted down during the revolution and replaced by a gilded wood copy. The monument was placed in the Orleans Chapel in the church of the Celestine monastery in Paris. The Three Graces were carved out of the same block of marble.
