One of the horses of Selene, the moon goddess, from the east pediment of the Parthenon. The artist is unknown, however, the general supervisor of the Parthenon sculptures was Phidias. The horse is depicted after a hard night’s ride panting, with bugling eyes, flared nostrils and pulsing veins. 447-432 B.C.E.
