A delightful angel with a lyre from the High Altar of St. Anthony. The group called Altare del Santo was created around 1447-1450. The group was comprised of twenty-nine pieces of sculpture, which included twelve reliefs with Musician Angels. The altar was dismantled at the end of the 16th century and the present altar was assembled in 1895 as a reconstruction of Donatello’s altar but as the exact architectural arrangement is not known it is not certain if the current altar is arranged exactly as Donatello had intended.
